Me, Myself and I

Hello, my name is Ryan Stempien, and I am a currently undeclared freshman from Buffalo, NY. As a freshman who had no credits coming in to Binghamton, obviously taking care of some Gen Eds was a huge factor with every class I've chosen thus far. I came to Bing with the expectation of being a Politics, Philosophy and Law major, as I intend to be a lawyer. However to be honest I really disliked the only philosophy course I took, and I missed writing quite a bit. So after discussing it with some of my upperclassmen friends on the Mock Trial team at Bing who also plan to be lawyers and had nothing but good things to say about being an English major, I decided to give some English courses a shot.

With my desire to try English as a major and quite frankly desperate need for Gen Eds and credits in general in order to catch up aside however, this course specifically interested me. Studying the internet is a mostly untapped frontier, as it's such a new institution. This leaves studying and analyzing the internet, and all things associated with it, an incredibly creative experience, as it has been relatively unexplored compared to almost any other institution. I have been fascinated with various internet anomalies and the effects of the internet on the real world, following them as they've been happening or looking them retrospectively for years now, and I think a chance to study them in a structured manner with other college students would be incredibly interesting, and I look forward to it.

Thanks,
Ryan Stempien
