What, or who, is to say what separates news and propaganda in modern media? Biased media sources have led society to believe everything that is broadcast to the public. While the concept of propaganda has been around for generations, new technologies and a growing globalized society have brought its representation to a fever pitch. In a world where the ability to spread ideas and information has become easier and quicker than cooking a microwave dinner, how does one differentiate between truth, propaganda, and straight lies in media? More importantly, is there a difference? Are the two so black and white or has media evolved into something more than originally perceived; an outlet for personal beliefs and a way to control the public. Some wave the notion, citing it simply as an overhyped phenomenon conducive to conspiracy theorists. This hypothesis may be true to a degree, but there is no doubt that propaganda is rooted in contemporary media portrayal in some form or another.
