This summer I interned with the Binghamton Mets. Not only am I an avid baseball fan, but working for a minor league team really gave me the chance to dig into the depths of what an organization is really about. I tend get ‘obsessed’ with learning new information and being ‘in-the-know’ about what I am currently doing at that time. While I was a basketball player (and though my knowledge hasn’t faltered), I extremely enjoyed different websites that offered info on the nations top recruits. This summer, it was baseball. Every morning I would come into work and check my favorite Mets info sites and blogs. This particular blog in which I fell in love with and continue to check daily is called Amazin’ Avenue. During the season, this blog did a few entries a day, always recapping the major league game, the minor league system, and then one or two posts on a specific issue. It was a great daily blog that gave me some great background knowledge on the players that we had at the time. They also did this great little post called ‘A view from your seat,’ where people who were at the Mets game would email the picture from their seat, whether it be an away game or home, and they would post it on their website (I’m guilty of submitting my own photo at the game I went to). Amazin’ Avenue lead me to a bunch of other blogs that I think are great as well, but I must stay true to Amazin’ as my favorite. From visiting a bunch of different blogs, I tend to notice myself liking those that are detailed, fun, and cover a wide range of subjects and issues that a newspaper might not be able to cover.
