What makes a good blog??

I was anti-blog for the past few years of my life.  Why do I want to hear about what the escapades of some random person who I frankly can't trust as a credible source?  So without ever looking very hard I just shut blogs out of my life and stuck to more established news sources.  But, over the past year or two my views have changed....

The first blog I became addicted to was Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/), and today it remains my favorite blog on the internet.  Gizmodo is a technology blog that discusses all things tech related and I mean ALL things.  Since finding Gizmodo I have spread out and now read about 8 blogs using Google Reader to keep them organized.  Gizmodo is still my favorite for three simple reasons, the extremely wide breadth of subject matter, the large volume of articles written daily, and the diversity of writers.

I think other blogs fail to grab my attention because they tend to focus on a more narrow subject matter.  Gizmodo circumvents this issue by covering anything technology related.  If I don't like an article I skip it and there are so many article that something is sure to grab my attention.  Most interesting about Gizmodo is that it is not written by one man, it is a large organized team of technology gurus so instead of getting one voice you hear the perspective of a large respected technology team.  I love technology and Gizmodo gets me the inside scoop in a way that the more traditional media sources cannot.
