Me, Myself and I

Hello Global Network bloggers!

My name is Samantha, I am an undeclared freshman from Livingston, New Jersey. Soon I will be declaring that I am an English major with a concentration in Rhetoric and Global Cultures. I am interested in communications and the media. I hope to eventually get a job in a Public Relations firm or as a journalist.

As I was reading the description of this course during registration, I found myself getting more and more interested as I read. I look forward to learning how the media has turned into the global network. Twitter and Facebook are two examples of social networks that have taken over communications via the internet. I am interested in learning why these social tools have turned into billion dollar websites that millions of people use. According to CNN news, if Facebook was a country it would be the 3rd largest one in the world with approximately 550 million users, after China and India, a fascinating statistic.

I look forward to learning about how the internet and media have spread knowledge, news, and social interest around the world in a matter of seconds.
